Party orderves

Well, I was searching out my recipes, trying to find goodies to serve at the Christmas Eve party, and the New Years Party. I remembered some miniature quiches, and egg rolls, with that wonderful dipping sauce, that went over really big. Then there was that great cheese dip, and spinach dip, and of course the cheese balls. Cheese puffs were gone in a flash. oh yea, the punch everyone loved. Can't forget that recipe. When I get them all together I'll share.... Merry Christmas you all!

Thanksgiving aces and pains

Well gang, Thanksgiving is over and I believe I'm killed. I not only had to shop for all the food, cook all the food, but then had to put the left overs up and clean up the kitchen. Talk about your family really loving you and having such respect for you, ha ha ha. Now they are buzzing around talking about Christmas, and the Christmas party, and Christmas Dinner. What, do I have a flashing sign running across my forehead saying........" Cracker Barrel"? I don't think so! Whats next?

Happy Thanksgiving

Today is Thanksgiving and even though I am busy in the Kitchen, I wanted to take time out to tell you what I am thankful for. I am thankful for God saving my sole. I am thankful for my church and my pastor and his family. I am thankful for my church family. All the love that flows in our church. I am thankful for my life. The good times and the not so good times. I'm thankful for all the lessons that God has taught me. It is because of those, that I am the person I am today. www.srmbc.com.

Strawberry truffle

It was always important to Mama to present the holiday meal on the buffet and the table, where everything was so eye appealing that our family and our friends would be pacing the floor in front of the dinning room 30 minutes before dinner was served. One of the desserts she made and was always an eye catcher, was her Strawberry Truffle. It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to prepare, but its so pretty and even more delicious tasting. Hope you try this. Here's to you Mama, lots of love!!!

Cottage Cheese-Cucumber-Bell Pepper- Onion Salad

I have know a lot of people that didn't care much for just plain cottage cheese, but once they tried my Mama's Cottage Cheese salad, they changed their minds. My brother would request this every year. Mother got such raves, she began to serve it durning the year as well. The flavors of all the vegetables mixed with the mayo, salt, pepper, and cottage cheese makes a really nice cool salad that is so delicious. Hope you will try this and like it as well as we did.

Green Bean Casserole

I know, everybody has their version of what a green bean casserole should be. I have my favorite as well. This has been handed down from my Mama since I can remember. It's not that hard and you can make it up that morning and then pop it in the oven for about 30 minutes before you stick in the rolls. Mama was a stickler for presentation. If it didn't look good, why serve it, she said! So, here goes and I hope it sounds as good as it is.

Mother knew it was safe giving it to me. She knew at an early age I loved to cook. Hope you enjoy this wonderful recipe.

Sweet Potato Casserole w/ Pecan topping

I just bought several cans of yams or sweet Potatoes to use for Thanksgiving, and thought how wonderful the smell of sweet potatoes backing in the oven smell. Mama use to give me the job of making them, so last year I taught my 11 year old grand daughter how to make her Great Grandmothers recipe. I thought I would share it with you all. We never seem to have left overs so I guess that would make them a hilt. Hope you enjoy them.

Mama had a wonderful habit of making both breads and cakes for the holidays. She would make a variety which included banana nut, orange-raisin and Carrot-Zucchini Cake. I never knew that she was sneaking in my Vegetables when I wasn't looking. I could never taste the vegetables in the cakes. All I knew was they were soooooo good. I can smell it cooking now as we speak. I can taste the sweet cake with the cream cheese frosting. Mama knew how to make a cold night, warm up really fast.

Fresh Pum-pkin Pie

My sweet mother use to say, " Why not take a few more minutes and make a Fresh Pumpkin Pie, the taste tells your family and friends, I really love you and want you to have the best". I believe that to be true. I have made both, fresh and from a can. You can tell the difference. Show your family and friends that they really are worth the extra effort. icon_lol

No Holiday would be complete without Peanut Butter Snowballs. They will leave the plate faster than a one legged man at at butt kicking contest. When I was a child, Mother would have to make a double batch of these. We would have half the batch eaten before the company even arrived.
